1 - Shaquille O'Neal C 34 7'1'' 340 A- D C- A- B D
He may be on the decline, but there's still barely anyone in the league who can slow down Shaq Diesel on either end of the court. Simply a beast.
2 - Yao Ming C 26 7'6'' 310 A- C D+ B+ B B
Yao has emerged as an elite center with very few rivals. He still lacks a nasty streak, but there's no denying his talents.
3 - Ben Wallace C 32 6'9'' 240 C+ D- C A+ A- D
Arguably the best defender and rebounder in the league, despite his lack of height. Can he win yet another Defensive Player of the Year award?
4 - Marcus Camby C 32 6'11'' 225 B- C- C- A A- D
One man challenging Big Ben for that award is Marcus Camby; one of the best shot-blockers in the league, and a fine all-around talent.
5 - Brad Miller C 30 7'0'' 261 B- C+ B- B+ C+ C
Talking of all-around talents, they don't get much more diverse than Brad Miller. The big man can bang in the paint, find the open man and hit open jump shots.
6 - Mehmet Okur C 27 6'11'' 249 B B C B- B- C
Okur's range is simply stunning; leave him open and he'll torch you from the perimeter. Unfortunately he lacks the athleticism to defend the post as well as his peers.
7 - Zydrunas Ilgauskas C 31 7'3'' 260 B C D+ B+ B- C
Another great European big man, Big Z has the size and the skills to get the job done, just don't expect him to grab too many offensive boards.
8 - Jamaal Magloire C 27 6'11'' 259 B- D+ D B+ B C
Strong as an oxe, Magloire is the best of a strong Bucks' frontcourt (Bogut and Gadzuric are two other talented centers). His defense and rebounding are top quality.
9 - Chris Kaman C 24 7'0'' 268 B- C- D+ B B B
Just 24 years old, Kaman has emerged as one of the best centers in the league after a slow start to his career. He'll only get better in the future.
10 - Eddy Curry C 23 6'11'' 285 B+ D+ D- B- C B
The youngest player on this list, Curry is a tremendous offensive big man but he needs to work on his rebounding if he's to ever be a truly great center.
Honorable Mention:
Erick Dampier C 31 6'11'' 265 C+ D D+ A- B+ C
Nenad Krstic C 23 7'0'' 240 B C C- B- C+ A
Tyson Chandler C 24 7'1'' 235 C D D+ B+ B+ B
Alonzo Mourning C 36 6'10'' 261 C+ D+ D- A B- D
Andrew Bogut C 21 7'0'' 245 B- C- C B- B- A
He may be on the decline, but there's still barely anyone in the league who can slow down Shaq Diesel on either end of the court. Simply a beast.
