1 - Steve Nash PG 32 6'3'' 195 C A A+ C+ C- C
Two-time MVP - enough said. Nash is a player who everybody wants to play with; he's a world class shooter and consumate team player with superb passing ability. His defense isn't always there, but his teammates can watch his back - he'll repay them on the other end of the court.
2 - Chauncey Billups PG 30 6'3'' 202 C+ A B A- D+ C
A dead-eye shooter, talented slasher and lockdown defender. Some have argued that Billups isn't a true point guard, but his assist numbers last season showed a different story. His creativity might not be Nash-like, but he does just fine in the Pistons system.
3 - Gilbert Arenas PG 24 6'3'' 191 B+ A- B- B+ C- B
One of the deadliest and most prolific scorers in the league - a true 'volume shooter'. Arenas also gets his fair share of steals, although he's known far more for his offense than his defense. Whether he actually plays point guard is another matter; he's turnover prone and not a true playmaker.
4 - Chris Paul PG 21 6'0'' 175 C+ B A- B+ C A
Just 21 years old and with only one year of pro experience, Chris Paul is already one of the purest point guards in the league. Paul has no weakness; he can shoot, he can pass, and he can defend. The sky's the limit.
5 - Jason Kidd PG 33 6'4'' 212 C+ C+ A A C D
The old warrior, once the best point guard in the league, now a step or two slower but still a premiere point guard. Kidd's defense is perhaps the best at his position, and he still plays the game like he has eyes in the back of his head. Shame about the jump shot.
6 - Tony Parker PG 24 6'2'' 180 B+ C+ B+ B C- B
Parker knows his limitations; he's not a dead-eye shooter but he is lightning fast. So what does he do? Drive into the hoop where he's damn near unstoppable. Few players can keep up with Tony Parker.
7 - Mike Bibby PG 28 6'1'' 190 C+ A- B+ B D+ C
Like Parker, Bibby is a speed merchant who plays the game at a different speed to most players. However, unlike Parker, Bibby can light it up from the perimeter, often hitting big shots down the stretch.
8 - Baron Davis PG 27 6'3'' 223 B- B- A- A- C- C
Davis has been hampered by injuries down the years and his shooting is often flat and off-form, but on his day Davis can be unstoppable. He's a great playmaker who is also capable of taking on scoring duties himself.
9 - Kirk Hinrich PG 25 6'3'' 190 C+ B+ B+ B+ D+ B
He may look like Harry Potter but don't let that deceive you; Hinrich is a tough-nosed player with underrated athleticism and the ability to do a little bit of everything. Although streaky at times, Hinrich has what it takes to lead his team to victory.
10 - Stephon Marbury PG 29 6'2'' 205 B B A- C+ D+ C
A malcontent with poor defensive intensity and questionable motivation, but there's no arguing with his numbers; he's a future Hall of Famer if numbers are all that we look at. On his day, few players can stop Starbury on the offensive end, where his explosive first step and wicked handle serve him well.
Honorable Mention:
Andre Miller PG 30 6'2'' 200 B- C A B+ C- C
Steve Francis PG 29 6'3'' 200 B+ B- B C+ C C
Brevin Knight PG 30 5'10'' 170 C+ C A B+ D+ C
T.J. Ford PG 23 6'0'' 165 C+ C+ B+ B+ C- B
Jason Terry PG 29 6'2'' 180 C+ A- B- B D+ C
