So as this is the 1st season of the NBL, I thought I'd write myself an article that I can keep updating as the season goes along withe regards to Rookie ratings and the most likely ROTY contenders. These 5 represent the most likely, barring a sudden surge from an outsider, contenders...
Brandon Roy - Blazers 36.4mins 18.2pts 5.7rebs 4.3ass 1.4stls 2.3tos
Currently leading the surprising Blazers to a 12-7 record. Roy is doing a little bit of everything and leads all rookies in assists. He also won the seasons 1st Rookie of the Month award.
Adam Morrison - Bobcats 33.4mins 19.6pts 5.3rebs 3.3ass 2.4tos
Like Roy, Morrison is leading his equally surprising Bobcats team to a decent record (11-7). Morrison currently leads all Rookies in scoring and leads the entire NBL in FT%. If he played some defence may well have beaten Roy to the 1st ROTM award.
JJ Redick - Magic 31.9mins 18.0pts 3.7rebs 3.4ass 1.4stls 2.3tos
Another Rookie leading his team in scoring, the sharp shooting Redick is shooting high %s across the board. The fact that Dwight Howard isn't getting a look-in in terms of being an option is testament to his outside prowess.
Andrea Bargnani - Raptors 31.1mins 12.2pts 5.3rebs 1.3ass 1.4stls 2.2tos
The #1 pick had a tough start to his NBL career, but has rebounded nicely the last couple of sims. His %s are not the best, but expect them to get better as he starts to find his feet later in the season.
LeMarcus Aldridge - Blazers 22.9mins 11.5pts 6.7rebs 1.2ass 1.5tos
Without doubt the most efficient of the Rookies, Aldridge wins the per 48min stats race hands down. Leading all rookies in rebounding despite his limited minutes means that, given major minutes, he could vault into top position for the ROTY prize.
